"Dogwood Winters" and Blooming where you are planted...

We have just celebrated two full years of living in the south...I feel more "grits" than "granola" these days and here are 10 reasons why (in no particular order)...

1. I love me some slaw ya'll...It goes with anything!
2. I feel perfectly normal calling my Publix grocery clerk by name
3.I have embraced styrofoam and I love happy hour at Sonic
4. I wave to strangers and often feel compelled to go beyond Hello...gasp!
5. I enjoy having deviled eggs and mac-n-cheese as a side dish at most "cook-outs"
6. I like the word "cook out" so much better than BBQ
7. I hang boston ferns on my front porch in April
8. I use the works "hot mess" to describe most things that are just plain crazy!
9. I will eat at a Meat and 3 and try overly salted food with my southern friends
10. I will even slow down for someone merging on the interstate and not honk...yes, I did say "Interstate"!

I just learned that we are having a "Dogwood Winter" this year, it means the Dogwood trees are blooming and we just had our last frost of the year...
We do have crazy weather and some wonderful spring storms. My neighbors think we are crazy when the tornado sirens are going off in the distance and we are sitting on the front porch watching the thunder and lightning!
I love that Good Friday is a Holiday and the stores are closed on Easter!
In just a few weeks we will be sitting at the pool every morning and catching lighntin' bugs on our evening walks.

The South gets in your heart in many ways and I feel that our family has really "bloomed where we are planted". I will always be thankful for my Northwest roots, but I have truly fallin' in love with all things southern... (I do subscribe to southern living)

Bless all your hearts and you know, our "southern' hospitality" is the real deal, we would love to show you around our wonderful town, recently voted #1 southern town in the country by Garden and Gun magazine (and No, I didn't make the name up)
